Wholesale floral supply has hundreds of thousands different
items, sometimes,
it is hard to categorize
all of them; you
can find some of
them here.
Writing
about glass does
not mean writing
about a single reality
but a set of varied
realities in which
functional needs,
scientific research,
technological progress
and artistic aspiration
interact.
Ancient
Roman glass which
derives from the
several provinces
of the Empire is
relatively uniform
in terms of technological
aspects and aesthetics,
so much so that
it is sometimes
difficult to ascribe
a piece to a particular
area, with the exception
of certain typologies
connected to specific
production centers.
This changed in
the middle Ages.
First in the Islamic
and Byzantine Empire
and then in the
Europe experiencing
a rebirth in the
arts, glass gradually
began to have distinctive
stylistic and technical
characteristics
relative to each
area.
Without
the doubt, the supremacy
of Venetian glass
in the Renaissance
and the spread of
facon de Venise
glass delayed this
process, creating
considerable productive
uniformity in glass
art, with the exception
of certain regional
peripheries that
escaped Venetian
influence. However
very soon, as early
as the 17th century
in certain countries
such as Bohemia
and England, new
and unique glass
traditions were
developing, from
glass composition
and the adoption
of techniques that
made the most of
the material to
the evolution of
types and forms
unique to the place.
With the passing
of time, but above
all in the 20th
century, national
“ school” became
more and more widespread,
each one having
specific technology
and a very individual
sensibility in relation
to glass.
An exhibition
or a publication
that gathers works
conceived and created
in different countries
heightens their
beauty and at the
same time draws
out their individual
characteristics.
For this to be meaningful
and enriching, the
viewer, or in this
case the exhibition
visitor must approach
the material with
an open mind. He
or she must reject
a priori the temptation
to establish a ranking,
or enquire into
which of the different
glass traditions
is the most valid,
because each one
should be valued
according to an
individual reading:
a visitor should
not try to find
the lightness of
Venetian glass in
Bohemian glass or
the essential sculptural
quality of glass
from the North in
Venetian glass;
he or she should
not reproach the
Finnish for excessive
chromatic simplicity.
Our field
of activity is wholesale
floral supply, and
we tried to share
some information
about history of
the glass as a one
of the elements
of this business.
